Swimming

Dear Parents/Caregivers

School Swimming is an essential component of the Health and PE programme and starts in Week 1 of Term 2. Students will be attending nine swimming and water safety sessions at Moana Pool.

TIMES:
Sessions are at different times/days for different classes. A timetable is included below:

Rooms 13, 14, 16 - Mondays in Term 2 from 11am - 12.30pm starting Mon 30 April (no lesson Queens Birthday)
Rooms 1, 3, 4 - Wednesdays in Term 2 from 9.30am - 11am starting Wed 9 May
Rooms 8, 10, 11 - Wednesdays in Term 2 from 11am - 12.30pm starting Wed 9 May

There will also be a school swimming sports day held on Friday 6 July from 9.30am - 12.30pm. More details on this event will follow in Term 2.

COST:
The total subsidised cost per child for the 9 Moana Pool sessions and school swimming sports is a total of $38pp. This includes admission, lessons and transport to and from the pool. Payment is due by the end of Term 2. Please discuss part payment options with the office if you would like to.

EQUIPMENT:
Students will need to bring their togs, towels and goggles (essential) to school on swimming days. All students present at school are expected to participate in swimming. The only non-swimmers we can cater for are children in plaster/fibreglass casts or with medical certificates. If your child is simply unwell or unable to participate in swimming (the regular school programme on that day) then we ask that you organise care for them.

PARENT HELP:
As per our EOTC policy we require at least one adult to every eight children (around water) and so we do require parent/grandparent/caregiver (...any available adult!) assistance. You do not need to get in the water, but rather watch swimmers in the wave pool and alert the life guards to any children in need of assistance. If you do have water safety experience however, please make this known as we may be able to use your skills. You can contact your class teacher if you can help or you can book yourself in at this link:
Swimming Parent Help 2018

Please help us with our planning by completing and returning the attached survey OR by completing it online using this link Swimming Snapshot 2018 by Friday April 13 (End of Term 1).

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the school either by phone or email.

Many thanks, Chris Marslin

ꗃ I understand that all students present at school are expected to participate in swimming. The only non-swimmers DNI staff can cater for are children in plaster/fibreglass casts or with a medical certicate. If my child is unwell or unable to participate in swimming then I will organise care for them.

( ) I understand that if my child does not have togs at school then DNI staff will attempt to contact me first to organise the forgotten gear, but will hire togs and a towel at my expense if I can not drop off the required gear in time.
