End of Term Roundup
6 July 2017

Logan Park High School Open Day - Correction
There was an error in our last newsletter.  The date of the LPHS open day is Sunday 30 July, at 11am

Three Way Conferences
As advised in our last newsletter, in weeks two and three of Term 3 we’ll be conducting meetings to discuss progress to date. We do not issue mid year written reports as there is a huge amount of time involved in this and we find that having a face to face meeting time is much more beneficial in terms of communicating effectively. If it’s really hard to get to school we are also happy to have telephone meetings. We aim to speak to parents/caregivers of every student over the fortnight.

Interview times can be booked by clicking this link https://parentinterviews.co.nz/, and entering the following code: RDA6Y  If you don't have internet access, contact the office and they'll assist you.  The booking link will be open from midday Friday July 7 until July 30.

Open Night
Open Night is coming up next term - Thursday July 27. School will close at 2pm on this day to allow preparations for the evening.

Office Hours during the school holidays
Over the school holidays the DNI office will be open the following hours:
Week 1 -  Monday 10 and Wednesday 12 July, 10am - 3pm
Week 2 -  Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 July, 10am - 3pm

Sexuality Roadshow
As many of you will be aware one of the themes included in our Health and PE focus in Term 3 is the pubertal change unit ‘The Sexuality Road’. This unit is created by family planning to provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to develop positive attitudes towards sexuality and to enhance their interpersonal relationships now and in the future.

Sexuality education is a valuable part of the NZ Curriculum and it is a requirement that it is taught as part of the Health and Physical Education learning area from Years 1-10. You are welcome to contact your child’s teacher to discuss the programme or to view any of the teaching materials used. Teachers will begin teaching the programme early in Term 3.

We look forward to working with the students through this important programme and hope that you take the opportunity to have many interesting discussions at home regarding the content your child will be taught in the coming weeks.

Physics Girl!
There's a public talk at the University next Monday by "Physics Girl", who runs a popular science You Tube channel.  It's a free event, but attendees need to register their interest in advance at the link provided - note that the registration link makes it sound like it's only for school groups, but this is not the case - anyone is welcome to register and attend!
