Newsletter - Friday 16 February

Dates to remember:
  • BOT Meeting, Tuesday February 28, 6pm in the staffroom

Fundraising:
We have two projects that we hope to raise funds for this year. One is sports gear and the other is technology. We’re looking at getting a team (or two teams) who would be willing to run a fundraiser or two? If you would be keen to be on this team (or even better, lead it) please email annem@dni.school.nz

Friendly builder?!
We are looking for someone to help us turn the annex in the hall into a sports shed. We need some shelves erected and a ‘cage’ installed so that we can lock the gear away. Does anyone have the skills and the time to help? Email heidih@dni.school.nz if so :)

Marae Stays Next Week:
We are looking forward to camp next week. The first classes (Rooms 8 and 16) head off on Monday. A reminder that all sports are underway next week and students who at not at the Marae must attend. Classes will be back by 3pm on the day they return so we expect that these students still attend sports.

Sports Payments:
THANK YOU! We have had 95% of payments made (or plans made) for sports and only needed to chase 5%.

School Bank Details:
If you'd like to make payments via internet banking, our school bank account details are:          Dunedin North Intermediate  03-1726-0033914-00

Please clearly mark in the reference fields the name of your child, and what the payment is for.

Any spare White Lego blocks??
Our Fabrics Technology Teacher, Julie Butler, is on the lookout for any spare white lego blocks that people could give the school for a design project in her tech room.  If you can help, donations can be dropped in to the school office.

Naming Uniforms:
We have a large number of children wearing un-named uniforms at present. Please check that uniforms are named and that you have the correct uniform pieces over the weekend. Children often find managing uniforms challenging and it is not uncommon to discover they have been wearing someone else's uniform accidentally! Please return named items to the office if you find you have the wrong items.

DNI Public Health Nurses:
Marion O’Kane and Mike Hammond are the Public Health Nurses for our school. They offer free, confidential advice to parents, whanau and caregivers on all aspects of health and wellbeing for their child and can be contacted directly via phone or email. They also make regular visits to the school and offers support/advice to staff on any health issues affecting the school when requested. Public Health Nurses work closely with local health and social support agencies and can refer students to the appropriate service if need be.

Reminder re Bike Shed:
Children need to bring their own lock for gear stored in the bike shed (scooters and bikes). The shed is not locked at all so gear stored in there must be locked with a bike lock and is at the owner's risk.

Bullying and Harassment Prevention and Response Policy:
The Bullying and Harassment Prevention and Response Policy is reviewed every second year. It can be found on our website under Information http://www.dni.school.nz/information/

If you have comments or concerns please email mattb@dni.school.nz by February 28, 2017 so we can take your thoughts into consideration before confirming the policy.
