Tena koutou

As you probably now know, the School Council have been working on a plan to open the new building and have decided upon a Garden Party. The garden beds are ready for planting and a sub committee of the school council has been working with landscaper Paul Ashford to design the planting. We are in the process of purchasing the plants, you may wish to support us around this? Please check out the link above if so.

The opening will be held on Friday November 9 beginning with a mass planting and culminating in David Clark cutting the ribbon to open the buildings, followed by an afternoon tea.

The planting will begin at 12pm, in prepartion for the formal ribbon cutting at 2pm. Afternoon tea will follow and will conclude by 3pm.

You are most welcome to join us. Please RSVP by November 2.

We are also looking for some support in the following ways:
  • Planting - would you be willing to help us with the planting from 11:45am - 1:15pm
  • Baking - would you be willing to provide some baking to support the afternoon tea?
  • Afternoon tea preparation - would you be willing to help in the kitchen on Friday November 9? We'll be baking during the morning and then getting the food/tea set up from 12pm and would appreciate help during both of these times.

Please email to RSVP and to let us know if you can help with any of the above.

Library Stocktake
This is happening in Week 3 while electives are taking place.  All books must be returned to the library by Wednesday 24 October.

Please assist your student in searching the house/car for DNI library books. The library is our biggest shared resource therefore bills will have to be sent home for any books missing at stocktake.
Scholastic Book Fair
We're hosting a book fair which will be based in the DNI Library from Monday 12 November.

This is a great opportunity to check out and purchase Scholastic Books latest offerings. Parents are invited to come in and browse after school (until 3:30pm) or at lunch time (from 12:50-1:20pm)  on Monday 12,  Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 November.

Wish lists are available for students to fill in and bring home…...

HPV Round 2
The second and final dose of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) school based vaccination programme will be given to the Year 8 students who have previously had their Round 1 HPV immunisation at school. If a student is away that day, they can receive the vaccination at a later date in a catch-up clinic at school.

No student will be vaccinated without their parent/caregiver’s consent which was provided prior to Round 1. Parents/caregivers can accompany their child for their vaccination if they wish, the nurses will be onsite from 9am at DNI.

The HPV vaccination is also available free of charge through your practice nurse or doctor up to your child’s 26th birthday. Delaying the vaccine may mean your child needs more injections to be protected, as people aged 15 years and older need three injections.

For any further information please phone the public health nurse for your school, or look up
