Whanau Hui
The revised date for the first hui for 2019 is Thursday 13 June at 6pm, in the DNI staffroom.

DNI School Swimming Sports 2019
To mark the finish of the school swimming programme at the end of this term, the DNI School Swimming Sports will be held at Moana Pool on Friday July 5 from 9.30am until approximately 12.15pm. This will be an inclusive event where swimmers of all abilities will be encouraged to use the skills they have learned and practiced during their lessons with Just Swim.

Format:
Students will soon be asked to enter at least three swimming events in either a competitive or non competitive section.
  • Competitive events (for swimmers who are confident swimming 50m in the deep end) will be raced over 50m and be held in the deep end of the pool. We expect all children who can comfortably swim this distance to participate in these events. Teachers have been taking note of who these children are in the past few weeks.
  • Non Competitive events (for swimmers still developing their confidence) will be raced over 25m and be held in the shallow end of the pool. A board can be used in these events with the focus being on participation.

Cups:
We have four beautiful cups that are awarded at prizeving in December, but are determined at the swimming sports. These will be decided based on overall results throughout the day. Additionally the  eight fastest freestyle swimmers from across the school will compete for the Ingram Cup.

Assistance:
For the event to run smoothly and safely, we require a number of parents and caregivers to assist as time keepers, to help with admin/results and provide supervision where needed.
If you are available to help, could you please email me at chrism@dni.school.nz     Thanks in advance.

While on this topic, many thanks to the parents who have been able to help us with supervision during our lessons so far. Your continued assistance is much appreciated.

Questions:
If you have any questions about the 2019 DNI Swimming Sports, please contact Chris Marslin chrism@dni.school.nz

Optional Fundraising for Electives
We run two electives during the year - winter (term 3) and summer (term 4). Some people prefer to pay for the electives in full while others prefer to do some fundraising to bring this cost down. This is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL.

The option is to sell Cottage Bakehouse pies and cakes. We've done this for a number of years and find that people can raise a decent sum if they elect to. Profit will be credited to individual children's elective accounts. Please fill in this form before June 21 if you wish to participate in the fundraiser.
