School Holiday and Learning from Home Clarification

Tēnā Koutou te Whānau,

The staff met yesterday to firm up our plans for learning from home. As you know we have been thinking about this for some time now, and have been surveying the community about internet and device arrangements. Regardless of this I think it is fair to say that moving to the Level 4 alert has required a good deal of rethinking about how we each operate in our daily lives.

I have two of my three children at home - one has just started university and the other is in year 8. We are each grappling with what is lost to us for now, but also what opportunities there are in calling time on life as we know it for a time. We had time to discuss this over dinner last night and overwhelmingly decided that things could be worse. We are determined to be optimistic.  We are also exhausted! Adrenaline has been pumping for days and is taking its toll - our whanau will need some time in the coming days to just settle and find our new groove.

So, with this in mind, I turn to the learning from home plans we firmed up yesterday. They come in two sections, before school holidays and after school holidays and you can find all the information you need here.

Can I also take this opportunity to say thank you!

Firstly, thank you to the staff here at DNI - there is an amazing team here and every staff member has pulled together with optimism, creativity and a desire to make the most of a challenge.

Thank you also to you, our fabulous community. We have experienced a good deal of kindness and patience while navigating these uncertain times.

Take care of yourselves and we'll see you on the other side.

Kind regards,
