Just a reminder that the Year 8 high school visits are this Friday.  The High Schools have communicated arrangements directly to parents/caregivers but below is a summary of the key information for each school.

If you have any questions please contact the high school concerned as they organise the days from their end and we have no further information that what is detailed below.

Buses leaving DNI at 8:50am. The programme runs 9am till 12.30pm including 30 minutes Literacy/Numeracy assessments.  Buses leave LPHS at 12:30pm to return to DNI.

Note: LPHS are making alternative arrangements for the number of Year 8 students that will still be on the Kepler Tramp.

Otago Girls (half day):
OGHS have asked the parents of Year 8 students, who are coming to Otago Girls’ High School next year, to drop their daughters at Otago Girls’ High School at 9:00am.  They will be returned to their respective schools from 12:30pm.

Otago Boys (half day):
The boys will be picked up at 9am at DNI and will return to DNI at the conclusion of the morning's programme. The programme starts at 9.15am and finishes at 12.00pm.

Boys need to wear their current school PE uniform as they will be involved in lots of physical activity. There will be no tests taking place that day; this will be done early in term 1 next year.

They will provide a bbq morning tea. Gluten free and vegetarian options will be available, and all meat is halal.

Queens (full day):
Students are asked to make their own arrangements to and from Queen’s High School.
Students are asked to arrive prior to 9am (when the day starts) and meet in the school hall (Surrey Street entrance). Students are asked to bring a pen, their own lunch, and a water bottle and while they may wear mufti, it is advised that they opt for casual, sports-style clothing, which will be more comfortable to be in for the day’s activities.

At the end of the day they will finish back in the Queens school hall for a 3pm pick up by parents

Kings (full day):
Students are asked to make their own arrangements to and from King’s High School.  Students come directly to the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) at the front of school and is seated by 8.45am. We would ask that your son is in his school uniform or sports uniform for the day and that he is wearing appropriate shoes. Bringing a school bag is optional.

In the morning students will be completing 3 tests (35 minutes each) which will provide an insight into their learning. Key literacy, numeracy and thinking components will be covered and our staff will be present to assist your son if required. At the conclusion of the testing, students will be provided with morning tea and will then carry out 7 curriculum activities.

If your son does have any dietary requirements or if you believe we do need to know any medical information for the day, please let me know in advance.

The Orientation Day will conclude at approximately 2.25pm. Your son can be collected from the front of King’s outside the PAC after 2.25pm.
