What does Level 3 look like for DNI?

Level three presents some real challenges for schools because the vast majority of the learning is expected to be online and from home, but we are also expected to provide care for students on-site when whanau have to return to work, and there is nobody at home to look after the students.

Last year we found that people were very respectful of this, and we had one small bubble operating at school while the vast majority remained at home.

On the basis of the survey we sent out last week we are expecting less than 20 children will need onsite support. This is certainly a manageable number and we can staff the onsite students while leaving all of our homeroom teachers at home looking after their class.

Meanwhile, I do appreciate that many of you will need to discuss what will be expected of you from your employers and that some of you had suggested that you didn’t yet know whether you needed onsite care or not.  I have therefore made up a new survey which I ask you to complete regardless of whether anything has changed for you or not - please take the time to discuss with your employer and fill in the survey by Monday 9pm.

Please note: NO STUDENT CAN COME TO SCHOOL WITHOUT A PRIOR ARRANGEMENT WITH THE PRINCIPAL, AND CONFIRMATION THAT WE ARE EXPECTING THEM. You must fill in the survey in order for us to plan for your child.

Ngā mihi,
Heidi
