DNI School Cross Country - Term 1 2025 Friday 4 April (postponement date Friday 11 April)
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The first DNI school cross country will be held on Friday 4 April (postponement date Friday 11 April) at the Botanical Gardens. There will be a second cross country in Term 3. The reason we hold two is to encourage goal setting and personal challenge, rather than being focussed solely on competition. Students have been training hard during fitness time and we encourage everyone to participate and achieve their personal best. They will then set goals, and learn about how to plan to meet a goal, around bettering their personal effort (for instance whether that being coming second instead of third, or running more than they walk).
As this is a whole school event, and there are options around walking rather than running, we expect that all students present at school will participate. There will be a few students with injuries who can not walk the course, and they should have a note from home in advance.
Students are expected to wear their full PE uniform with sneakers. Students will also need their DNI polar fleece or plain black jacket, water bottle, and any medication (especially inhalers) they need.
On the day, we walk across to the Botanical Gardens, leaving school at 11.25am and will return to school after the final race. Parents are welcome to come and watch.
Parent Helpers: We also require parent help to make this race possible. Races start at 11:40am, I will be giving a briefing at 11:30am, so please aim to get there about 11:25 am to be put in place. I have attached the RAMs which includes a map of the course.
